THELMA DRAKE VOTES FOR GAS PRICE GOUGING, AGAINST VIRGINIA FAMILIES

Virginia Beach, VA--Virginia 2nd District Democratic Nominee Glenn Nye today released the following statement in response to Thelma Drake's vote against the H.R. 6346, The Federal Price Gouging Prevention Act:

"It is unconscionable that Thelma Drake has voted yet again to allow gas price gouging while Virginia families desperately need relief at the pump. I am very disappointed to see that Thelma Drake has once again sided with the interests of the oil companies over the needs of Virginia families. 51 Republicans sided with Democrats in voting for a common sense measure to keep gas prices down. With today's vote to allow price gouging at the pump, Thelma Drake has put oil company profits over our families. It is time for common sense leadership that focuses on real results for the people of Virginia."

Glenn Nye is the Democratic candidate for Congress. Nye is a fifth-generation Hampton Roads resident and former Foreign Service officer. Nye volunteered to serve in conflict zones in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Iraq. He received the State Department's Superior Honor Award for leading a rescue of 26 American citizens and negotiating the release of an American hostage. In Iraq, Nye led operations to create jobs for Iraqis as part of the counter-insurgency effort.
