VIDEO MESSAGE FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY

"On the 4th of July, we Virginians are going to join together with Americans across our great country to celebrate our Declaration of Independence. I spent many Fourths of July overseas in places like Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq, working closely with our men and women in uniform and talking with the people of those countries who aspire to some of the same freedoms that we enjoy here in America. For over 230 years, Americans have set an example for the world and shown that the capacity to seek liberty can overcome tremendous odds.

On this holiday, it is important that we remember the sacrifices of our founding fathers and the sacrifices of our veterans and our men and women in uniform, who are serving overseas today and all those who have fought and died for us to ensure the freedoms that we enjoy. It is important that we keep in our hearts the memories of those who have served to make this a reality for us here in America, and that we pledge to work hard to ensure that those same freedoms are enjoyed by future generations.

Please keep in mind over this 4th of July weekend the sacrifice of our men and women serving around the world today. Have a happy 4th of July and may God continue to bless the United States of America."
